Why I want to become a Mentor?

My experience ranges from research in chemical technology and chemical engineering to administrative work related to contracts and international employment arrangements (PhD in Poland and France, MSCA-IF in Norway), professional correspondence, and the acquisition of prestigious research funding. It was not always easy. I am not afraid to talk about my struggles, as well as what I could have done differently and the lessons I have learned along the way to achieve better outcomes. I believe that sharing both successes and failures is an important part of mentoring. It can help others navigate their own international journeys with more confidence, awareness, and a realistic understanding of the challenges involved. I would be pleased to share my knowledge and experience and to support those who are interested in pursuing academic opportunities in Scandinavia or France.

My professional experience

I am a chemical engineer and researcher with two PhD degrees, obtained through a cotutelle programme between AGH University of Kraków (Poland) and Sorbonne University in Paris (France). AGH has been an important part of my academic career: I completed all three academic cycles there, i.e., Bachelor of Engineering, Master, and doctoral studies - all in Chemical Technology at the Faculty of Energy and Fuels. During my bachelor of engineering studies, I gained my first practical experience through internships in the Polish energy and chemical industries. At the Jaworzno III Power Plant, I worked in the Solid Fuels Analysis Laboratory, gaining practical experience in laboratory analysis and the characterization of industrial materials. I also completed an internship at the refinery of Grupa LOTOS in Gdańsk, where I was introduced to the industrial production of refined petroleum products. During my Master’s studies, I pursued a specialization in Clean Fossil and Alternative Fuels Energy with English as the language of instruction. As part of my studies, I also completed an Erasmus+ exchange semester at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Norway. I subsequently carried out an internship at AkzoNobel Pulp and Performance Chemicals in Sweden, where I gained my first substantial industrial R&D experience. I worked on kinetic modeling, experimental design, laboratory-to-pilot-scale-up, and process validation. During my doctoral studies in Poland, I was awarded a BGF scholarship from the French Embassy and completed my PhD through a cotutelle programme, conducting my research at Sorbonne University. After graduating in 2019, I continued my career in France. I was hired under the Make Our Planet Great Again programme and I joined the Institut Charles Gerhardt Montpellier at the University of Montpellier in France as a postdoctoral researcher. I worked on metal-organic frameworks for NOx removal. In 2020, I moved to Norway and joined the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellow. This programme is one of the most prestigious European fellowships for researchers, and I became the project leader of my own EU-funded MesoSi-CO2 project. My research focused on the development and characterization of nickel-based materials for chemical CO2 utilization. I was responsible for planning and conducting research activities, coordinating international collaborations, supervising a Master student, and communicating research results at international conferences. I was also awarded the „Young Talent” Label at the 13th International Conference on Environmental Catalysis (ICEC13) held in Isola delle Femmine, Italy, in 2025. To date, I am the author of 26 scientific publications and have delivered 19 oral presentations. More recently, in July 2026, I gave an invited lecture at the Polish-French Congress on Chemistry organized, among others, by the Scientific Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Paris and the Polish Library in Paris (IBPP).
The mentoring project is a part of Welcome to Poland run under Polish Agency for Academic Exchange with no. BPI/WTP/2025/1/00031 "AGH Global Alumni – A comprehensive model for cooperation and relationship-building between AGH and its international alumni".The Welcome to Poland Programme is financed by the European Union under the European Funds for Social Development 2021–2027 (FERS) within the project"Support for higher education and research institutions in servicing foreign nationals and Poles going abroad" (project no. FERS.01.05.IP.08-0003/24).
